Goodbye 2010~and Lanie

Lanie saying "hi" to my cats.
A couple of days after I got Lanie.

A closeup of Lanie's face.

I can't believe how fast 2010 went by! Many big things happened for me like the start of my blog in January and me starting Middle School just to name a few. I know that 2011 will bring many great things also like a new girl of the year! I have a couple pictures of Lanie that I 'd just like to put on here.

What I Think of KANANI!

I have seen the doll pictures and outfits from this blog: www.iheartamericangirl.blogspot.com

Also, I got the books from Barnes & Noble yesterday and I read both in about a span of about 3 hours. :) The first book is called "Aloha Kanani" and the second is called "Good Job Kanani" both by Lisa Yee who also wrote "Good Luck Ivy" for American Girl. I think that both Kanani Stories are wonderful but Kanani on the front of both of the books looks WAY different from the doll. I can't wait to see her whole collection on New Years, though!

I don't know if I will save up for the Kanani doll like I did with Lanie. So far since when Chrissa came out, I wanted the newest dolls. (Chrissa, Rebecca and Lanie) and they're great dolls, but I don't know if I'll get her. I do think she is REALLY pretty and I like her stories, but I think I'll wait until later on this year and f I still like her, then I will get her. But then again, I have been wanting a "Just Like Me" doll or "My American Girl Doll" for a while........... :)

Oh and I'm so sorry that I never did a "Happy Thanksgiving" post or a "Merry Christmas" post! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a great Christmas. During both holidays, my family came over and on Thanksgiving we had a feast and just talked with each other. On Christmas we also had a large feast, opened presents and stayed up until midnight chatting and watching Christmas movies. I had a great time during both holidays and my dolls even got some new outfits! (which they love!) Did you have a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas too?

Awesome Book Reviews!!!!!

Hey everyone! How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was great! I finished reading a lot of books lately, but I haven't had enough time to post. So.....here we go:

The first book is called "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott. I enjoyed this book very much and it's a classic novel too. It's about 4 sisters named Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. It talks about their life growing up in the 1800's. Yes, it is a very long book, it has lots of information about them. I think it was a very fun book and the author did a very good job of describing and elaborating. I think I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

The next book is called "Boy of the Painted Cave" by Justine Denzel. It is about a boy named Tao who is a part of a Native American tribe. Tao really likes to draw and paint, but in his tribe, it is considered bad if you do that. Only the cave painter of the tribe may draw and paint. I really liked this book. I was very surprised at some parts of the book, and there is a sequel to it called "Return to the Painted Cave" I will be reading that one soon, also. I would probably give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

This book is called "The Golden Goblet" by Eloise Jarvice McGraw. The setting is in Ancient Egypt and the main character is a boy named Ranofer. He has to live with his mean half-brother, Gebu who screams at him and beats Ranofer. Ranofer has to work at a gold shop and loves it. He finds a disturbing thing in house---he thinks Gebu stole the gold! He needs to figure out how Gebu stole it. But nobody would believe Ranofer if he told them. How will he do it? In my opinion, it was ok. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. I would give it 3 out of 5 stars.

This is called "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" by J.K Rowling. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!! Everyone was telling me to read the Harry Potter series because they are so awesome. Some of my friends have read them more than one time so I said, "Okay, I'll try and read them" thinking that I wouldn't like them.......wow......I was wrong. They are amazing books....I defiantly recommend them to everybody! I can't really tell what it's about without wanting to give away the ending.......5 out of 5 stars!

Then I read "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" by J.K Rowling. Again, I LOVED IT!!!!!!! It took me about 1 and a half days to read it because I loved it so much! With this book, I would want to see what happened next so I HAD to keep reading. This book was about the Chamber of Secrets at Hogwarts school, (maybe that's where she came up with the name for the book......heehee) it was opened by somebody! I can't say anymore. Actually, yes I can. But I would like to say that when I read it, I would HAVE to go onto the next part so that I could see what happens. (You probably will too.) The way that she writes it, it makes me feel like I am there with them at Hogwarts. I was scared at the parts that were scary-(there were a couple)......I even screamed at one part....at one time I had to stop reading and calm down. And then I felt kinda silly because it wasn't happening to me. But again, 5 out of 5 stars!

After that I read "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" by J.K Rowling. It was a great book. Just amazing. I really like the way she ended it, I wasn't expecting a couple of the endings and the way she chose to write it.......I LIKED IT! This book was a little bit bigger than the first two Harry Potter books. But I didn't care. It was amazing like the others. 5 out of 5 stars!

What books have you read lately? Please feel free to comment. Well, goodbye! I'm off to read the fourth Harry Potter book........ :)

American Girl Crafts at Safeway/Girl of the Year 2011

Hello everyone! Yesterday, my family and I were at Safeway and we saw an American Girl Crafts display! I was very shocked. It had stickers and make-your-own scarf set. Plus, some little sewing kits. It was just in the middle of all the food displays. Very amazing........have you seen any American Girl craft displays at your local Safeway?

Also, I found some information on the 2011 American Girl doll of the year! Here is the book summary on http://www.dolldiaries.com/ I can't seem to copy and paste it to my blog......but it does say she lives in a beautiful tropical setting. That sounds like Hawaii to me! This is going to be soooo cool! I can't wait for her. The book summary also says that her name is Kanani.

I hope you have a great rest of your weekend!

I'm just going to post about random things......

Hello blog readers! Well, I got through the first couple weeks of Middle School........and it was tough. We already had our first project due in social studies. One of the reasons why I haven't been posting is because I have been getting so much homework in math. Second, I had that big project and third, I'm playing two different instruments along with participating in after-school activities. So, honestly, this is the first time that I've had to post. I haven't even been able to play outside either. I know, sad right? But anyway, over the summer, my awesome friend and her family took a trip to a certain American Girl Place and they brought me back a little T-Shirt for one of my dolls to wear. I wanted Julie to wear it so I put it on her. I'll put the pictures of her wearing it sometime soon..........

Tell me how your first week or two of school went for you.

End of Summer.........

Today, I am so nervous because tomorrow I'm starting MIDDLE SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is my last day of summer!!!!! I had my friend come over today and we talked about how nervous we are. A lot of people told me that I will "do fine, middle school is great!" and "oh, don't be scared or nervous!" But, it's easier said than done. Does anybody have any advice for me??????? Any at all besides "you'll do great!" See ya later alligators!

New American Girl Items!

Hello blog readers! Well, I'm kind of posting this late, but there are new American Girl doll items! Yay!!!!!! I'll just tell you what my opinion is on each new item!

The Snowflake Pajamas I think are really cute! I like the color that they used for the pj's and slippers are just adorable! I would want to wear slippers like that! As a bonus, the doll they modeled it on looked really cute while she was wearing it!

The Cozy Plaid outfit is cute I think! I like the pink and white together, but maybe they could choose and different color for the boots; possibly brown?

The Sweet Sugar outfit looks very, well, sweet!!! I think that it's great that they are making a pet outfit and they should make one for all the other pets also!

The Ski outfit and accessories looks like there was lots of detail put into it! I think the snow suit and mittens are cute but, I think that the accessories are a bit overpriced. But I do think that they are cute.

The Snow Flurry Outfit does remind me a LOT of the snowy chic outfit, but just in a different color. I think that it's great that American Girl is starting to use colors other than pink. Even though I LOVE THE COLOR PINK! It's my favorite. :)

The Recital Outfit is really cool in that they didn't make it a dress that's fancy. They do make it seem fancy, but not too much. That's why this outfit is one of my favorites. I also like the blue and gray colors together. They seem really nice together. :)

The Ruby Ribbon Dress is perfect for Christmastime! It's really cute, but I also like all of the holiday outfits that they AG comes out with each year. :)

The Snowflake Ball Gown has a really good color in it! Plus, I love the little tiara too! I also like the details on it like the bows and the snowflakes!

The Dog Sled is just ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't really know what I could use it for, maybe photo stories or something like that. But still, it's a very cute idea!

The Praline Pet Set is very cute! I'm very glad that AG decided to come out with another cat! They have (for dogs) Coconut, Sugar, Honey and Pepper. For cats they just had Ginger. But now they came out with Praline and I'm happy because kitties are my FAVORITE animals!!!!!!!

The Travel Set is cute! I would really want something like that for my dolls!!!!! I read a review and it said it will "only fit 3 or 4 outfits in it." But still if my family and I were traveling, I would definitely want this for my dollies! :)

The Storage Tower is okay, what I really like about it is the earring tree! I think that American Girl really put detail into that if it can really hold American Girl doll sized earrings!!!!!

The Cello Set is awesome! I'm glad that American Girl sort of has a variety of instruments now because it just seemed like AG had the choice of a violin or a flute. Now they have violin, flute, guitar or cello. That's pretty good if you ask me! :)

The Baking Accessories are really cute! I don't really know what else to say but "They're cute!"

The Holiday Accessories are really awesome! Again, more detail and lots of thought were put into this thing for dolls. It's really cute!

The Baking Table and Treats are so cute and I know I could just play with this set for a very, VERY LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time! Once again, the detail and thought that they put into making these items just make me happy to know that American Girl really does care that we have good quality toys. :)

Plus there are new books and Bitty twin stuff, which are cute also! I'd also like to tell you all about the sale items on American Girl. I occasionally look at it, but I've noticed that they have books for $2 and $3!!!!! They also have clothes for girls to wear for decent prices! I also wanted to tell everyone that if you get a parent to sign up for the American Girl e-mailing list, then you could get notified about sales, coupons, free shipping and many other things too!

Felicity and Elizabeth

Hello readers of my blog! I was just at Quinlyn's blog and I learned some sad news. And after I read it, I thought, "I've got to check American Girl!" The news is........................................................
FELICITY AND ELIZABETH ARE GOING TO BE ARCHIVED SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was actually surprised to see that they will be archived soon because I was thinking that Molly and Emily were going next, but I guess not. Good for Molly and Emily fans, bad for Felicity and Elizabeth fans! And, I don't really know what I think of it yet. I'm sad that they won't be available to purchase anymore, but I am still excited at the same time to see the new historical characters we will be getting soon. And who knows? I might even like the new character better than Felicity.....................

Animal Crossing Video Game

Hi everyone! I want to tell you all about a video game by Nintendo called "Animal Crossing." It's a game for the Wii but Nintendo has versions for your Game Cube or Nintendo DS, too. Animal Crossing is similar to "Webkinz" but you get to create your own character. You get asked questions like "Are you excited to start your new life?" Based on how you answer the questions, the game determines what your character looks like. My character has pink hair!

After that, you get to choose the house you will live in, there are only 4 houses in your town that you can choose from. All of your neighbors are animals. You earn money (which is called Bells) and you even have a mortgage that you have to pay off. You can earn bells by fishing, catching bugs, shaking trees and selling stuff. Using Bells, you can buy clothes and furniture, wallpaper and flooring to decorate your house. It's so much fun and I love to play it! Do any of you have any of the "Animal Crossing" video games?

My trip to the Grand Coulee Dam!

Yesterday, my family and I went to the Grand Coulee Dam in Washington. My mom said that I could bring one of my dolls to take pictures of her and make a little blog post, too! I decided to bring mini Molly because the dam was completed in about her time era. A picture of the dam.

I just HAD to take a picture of Molly in front of it. :)

Did you know it was the eighth wonder of the world?

Heehee....Molly's going scuba diving!

This is a picture of the huge wrench that the people who built the dam

used.

Molly on the wrench. (She couldn't quite turn it....)

This is a video game showing you how the dam works, instead of playing it, Molly

stood on the T.V.

Here's a close up of Molly on the T.V.

Isn't that AMAZING!?!?!

....Wow....

Here's Molly in comparison to the cubic yard!

This is Molly in front of the plaque on the front of the building.

(Please ignore my hand.) :P

We also saw 2 or 3 movies and got to try all these hands-on activities! It was so much fun! Have any of you ever been to the Grand Coulee Dam?
I'd love to know if you have!

Rebecca's Curly Hair!

Back view
Front view

Hey! Probably by reading the title of this post, you're wondering, "Rebecca comes with curly hair-what's this all about?" Well, for those of you who have Rebecca, you know that she, (or any other doll with curly hair) comes with a tag telling you to use the doll hair pick and not the hair brush. Well.......I didn't follow the instructions and I used the doll hairbrush instead of the hair pick. Let me tell you, that was a HUGE mistake. It made her hair frizzy and not good looking! So, I got my American Girl Hair Curling set, put her hair in curlers last night and took them out this morning. She looks SOOOOOOOOOOOOO pretty! She looks WAY and I mean WAY better than she used to! Have you ever done that to one of your dolls?

Junior the overweight cat (plus Julie, Chrissa, Rebecca and Lanie)

One day, the youngest American Girl doll owned by Siobahn, Rebecca, unfortunetely caught a cold. Julie and Chrissa kindly took care of their poor, sick sister by bringing her her cat, Licorice, a blanket and here stuffed teddy bear.

Suddenly, they all heard a loud knock on the door. "Who could that be?" Julie wondered aloud.....

"I'll get it!" Chrissa answered happily. She walked to the door and opened it to find.........

A young girl with curly blonde hair and hazel eyes! "Hello," the girl said. "I'm Lanie and some person named Siobahn ordered me. Now I'm in this strange house where I don't know anyone!" She sobbed. "I'm LOST!"

"You're not lost." Chrissa answered kindly. "My name is Chrissa, and I live here in this very room! Siobahn was telling us all about how we are getting a new sister soon! I'm guessing you're the new sister?" "Um..I guess so"..... Lanie replied.

"Who's at the door?" Julie wandered over curiously with Rebecca crawling along right behind her. Chrissa turned around, "This is Lanie, Julie. Remember, Siobahn was telling us about 'getting a new sister' and well I guess Lanie is our new sister! Yea!" "Oh, that is so cool! Isn't this cool, Rebecca?" "Umm...yeah, it is cool". Rebecca was kind of nervous around Lanie. It was a whole new sister that she gets to meet, but Rebecca remembered how nervous she was when she first came. She also remembered how nice Julie and Chrissa had always been to her......"Yeah, it's really nice to meet you, Lanie! I can give you a tour of our room if you want!" "That would be so nice of you, Rebecca!" Lanie replied, "When will you-" but her sentence was interupted by a furious "ROAR!"

The giant/overwieght cat, Junior came stomping into the room. "GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" Junior roared.

"Oh my gosh!" Chrissa screamed. "Ahhhhhhhh!" yelled the others.

Brave Lanie peeked out the corner when the fierce cat walked away. "Another giant cat is sitting right outside our door!" she yelled.

"I'll go out and try to make them go away!" Lanie bravely said. "No!" Chrissa screamed. "It's too dangerous!" But Lanie was already around the corner.

"Hey, cat, please go away, you're scaring my sisters and I". The cat stared blankly at her. The fluffly one walked away, but it was hard getting the overweight one to go away. "Okay, you asked for it".....

Lanie jumped on top of the overweight cat and told her "If you don't go away, you won't get any food for a long time". "Fine". The cat said. "As long as I get my food, I guess I'll just leave you alone."

"Yea!" Julie, Chrissa and Rebecca all cheered. "Thank you Lanie!" They all said in unison. "You're welcome sisters!" They all lived happily ever after, the girls were safe and Junior the overweight cat got more food and didn't ever bug them again. Or did she?

What did you think of my first photo story? Well, it sure was fun making it thanks for reading, and please leave a comment! :)

New American Girl stuff!

Hey guys! I'm sorry I haven't posted for a month, but I have been very busy! I am now out of school for summer and now I can post A LOT! SO, I've got lots of things to tell you all! I will number them:

#1: My mom made a surprise order from American Girl, and got me Chrissa's party treats(which are ADORABLE)! It comes with 3 very detailed sandwhiches, 3 watermelon slices, 3 plates, placemats, cups and napkins. It also came with a big cake and a box filled with cards with "sayings to live by" printed on them.

#2: My mom also bought me Lanie's butterfly outfit and I LOVE it! It comes with a red dress, orange shawl, cute red shoes with bows on them and a monarch butterfly hairclip.

#3: My mom also bought me a school and earth smarts planner. It is really, really cool! It has some stuff about school in the front, and every week it tells you a fact about the environment or animals, and then it gives you an activity you can do that week to help the planet.

#4: As an end of the year present, my mom and dad bought me the ginger and her "Spice of Life Crafts" book pack from Barnes and Noble. She is one of the SOFTEST animals from American Girl. Her book is SO COOL! One of my favorite crafts in it are the "Bead Buds" and they are sooo cute! The book also comes with stickers of Ginger, butterflies, flowers and cupcakes!

Have you gotten any of these items from American Girl? If so, please comment and tell me what you think of them. :)

About Carlie and Junior

Hey everyone! I just thought that I'd do a random post about my cats, Junior and Carlie! First of all, Junior is a girl. (She's named after the statue in ACDC). Carlie is also a girl. We got them in 2004. We adopted Junior as a kitten. (And she was ADORABLE)! I remember that I was scared to hold them because I thought they would scratch me! Now I hold them like little babies ALL the time! (That was Junior's punishment this morning because she ate a piece of bacon off the counter)! What I find strange is that Carlie is the mom cat and she looks very fat but I weighed her and she's not at all fat! Junior (on the other hand) is the baby and looks skinney but actually weighs about 16 pounds! We are going to put her on a little kitty diet! Well, I hope you enjoyed learning about our pets! The top pictures are of Carlie and the bottom pictures are of Junior! Do you ave any pets?

Awesome Book Reviews!!!!!

"The Sea of Monsters" is the sequl to "The Lightning Thief". In this book, Thalia's pine tree, which is the only thing that protecs demi-gods like Percy and others, has gotten poisened! Now the tree is losing it's power to protect them! The only way to heal the tree is to get the magic fleece, from the island on the sea of monsters! Now monsters are getting past the tree and everyone has to fight them. And, to add more stress to heir lives, Grover is stranded on the island in the sea of monsters! Percy, Annabeth and Percy's new friend, Tyson, must go rescue Grover and find the magic fleece before it's too late! The author is Rick Riordan and there are 279 pages in the book. I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

"The Lightning Thief" was AMAZING!!!!!! It was about a 12 year old boy named Percy who finds that he is a demi god. (Which means half-human half-god). It's not safe for a demi-god like him to be in the world where monster's can attack him, so he goes to a camp that is just for people like him. But Zeus's lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the suspect! Percy along with his friends Annabeth and Grover must go on a quest to find the lightning bolt and prove that Percy never took it. The author is Rick Riordan and there are 375 pages in the book. This book taught me lots about mythology. This is also a series of books, it's called the "Percy Jackson and the olympians" series. I would give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

"Island of the Blue Dolphins" was interesting. It was about a girl who spends 18 years of her life on an island by herself. She knows how to find food and how to live on her own, but there are also many challenges she must face. The book, in my opinion, was really exciting at some parts, and then boring the next. The book went like this the whole way through. The author is Scott O'Dell and there are 178 pages. My rating would be 3 out of 5 stars.

Answer to poll question

Well, my poll ended asking the question "What instrument do you think I'm playing in Band?" I'm going to tell you now. I'm playing the Clarinet! Good job to the people who guessed that and to the person that guessed Flute, that was a good guess! At first, I wanted to play the Flute, but then changed my mind to Clarinet. So thanks to everyone for voting on my poll! It really makes me happy that I get votes on my poll because my blog is still very young. Thanks to everyone who has ever commented or voted on my poll! Do you play any instruments? If so, I'd love to know which one or ones.

Awesome book reviews!!!!!!

This book is called "The Tail of Emily Windsnap" by Liz Kessler. This is the first book in the Emily Windsnap series. If you like fantasy books, then this one in for you. "The Tail of Emily Windsnap" is about a girl named Emily who has never been in water before. Her mom wouldn't ever let her. Until one day, in seventh grade, Emily figures out why her mom never let her get in the water. I think the Emily Windsnap book was very entertaining. It is 209 pages long, and I read it in about a week. I enjoyed it so much and now I'm on to reading the second book called "Emily Windsnap and the Monster From the Deep." I'd give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.
This next book is called "The Tangled Web" by Kathryn Reiss. This is just one of the many books in the mysteries from American Girl. If you like mystery books, then this one is for you. "The Tangled Web" is about Julie Albright. She's in the 5th Grade and a new girl named Carla Warner joins her class. Julie really like her and envys her for having a dog, huge house and many, many brothers and sisters when Julie lives in a small apartment, no dogs and one crabby sister. But then Julie finds out the truth about Carla, can she ever trust her again? I think this book was very suspenseful; I couldn't put it down! It's 148 pages long and I read it in about a day. I'd rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

This book is called "Midnight in Lonesome Hollow" by Kathleen Ernst. It is an American Girl mystery. Again, if you like mysteries, this is for you. "Midnight in Lonesome Hollow" is about Kit and she's visiting Kentucky. There is a lady in the book called Lucy Vanderpool and she takes pictures of the people's baskets in Kentucky. Kit feels that she is a "outsider" and is not very welcome in Lonesome Hollow. For me, this book was a very slow read. I didn't really enjoy it very much. The first half of the book was pretty boring, but once I got into the second half, I started liking it a little bit more. I'd give this book 2.5 out of 5 stars.

This last book is called "Mini Mysteries 3" by Rick Walton. Again, if you like mysteries this is for you. There are 20 mini mysteries in this book, but it doesn't make it any less suspenseful! There are 80 pages in the book withan answer key in the back. I love all the mini mysteries books and I really, REALLY want American Girl to make more!!!!!!!!! I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars!
I will now start doing "Awesome book reviews!" I'll try and update my "Awesome book reviews" as often as I can. Have you read any of these books? Have you read some books by the same author or the same series? Comment and let me know!

Sorry!

I'm sooooo sorry for not posting for 10 days! Wow! I haven't posted for that long! Ahhh! Well, I will make up for it with a post on updating everything that has been happening. Well:

#1: I got Lanie! She is so pretty! Her hair is soo curly! Also, as a surprise, my mom ordered Lanie's Gardening Outfit for her. She looks great in both outfits! She's so awesome! I totally reccomend getting her!

#2: I started to knit again, and I am going to knit blankets for my dolls! Also, I made some pillows out of fabric already cut into strips at the ends and I tied them together to make little pillows! I want each of my dolls to have a sports outfit, Julie has Soccer and Chrissa has swimming. For Rebecca, I hope to order the Midnight Skate outfit. And, for Lanie, I hope to order the Yoga outfit!

#3: Also, this isn't really new, but you all know my American Girl Dolls, but you don't know my pets! Julie's pet is Nutmeg her bunny. Chrissa's pet is her llama. Rebecca's pets are the old Coconut and Licorice. Lanie doesn't have any pets. Yet. She will probably get Lulu, her bunny.

#4: By the way, I took a bunch of pictures of my dolls, pets and lots more. I can't wait to put them up in a photo story or just a bunch of pictures. I have some pictures of my dolls with my cats. I also have a picture of my cat, Junior, wearing Rebecca's hat that came in her accessories. (I didn't force the hat on her head because it would be to small, and it would hurt her, sooo, I just put it on top of her head.) Again, I'm sooooo sorry for not posting for 10 days. I will really try to make an effort to post as often as I can. And if I don't have enough time on weekdays, I will really try and post on weekends.
One last thing, I'd like to thank all of the people that have commented on my blog and I'd also like to thank all of the people who follow my blog. Okay, Bye!

I realized that I forgot to include Josefina on the poll! I am so sorry to those of you who were most like Josefina! If I do another poll, and I forget something, please comment correcting my mistake. I got three votes! Yeah! I am going to have my poll go on longer than my last one so that you all have a chance to vote.

Hi!!!!!!!

Hello everyone! Sorry that I have not posted in a while because first, I have school and I had LOTS of homework last night. I think I might have figured out how to post a picture so here's a test photo. This is a picture of Chrissa and my cat, Junior, who that day was fascinated by the doll.

I'd love to do a little thingy on the side bar which shows a bunch of American Girl doll blogs...... if you guys could please comment with your blog URL, I could put it in a post and put it on the side bar. :) That's about all I have to say for now, Bye!
